Festive Tents

The heart of Oktoberfest beats within its lively beer tents. Don’t miss the Hacker Festzelt, known as “Bavarian Heaven”. Its ceiling, adorned with blue skies, fluffy clouds, and twinkling stars, provides a whimsical backdrop for your photos. Capture the jubilant atmosphere as revelers raise their steins in toast.

Carnival Attractions

No Oktoberfest photo collection is complete without shots of the carnival rides. The Willenborg’s Ferris Wheel is a must-photograph attraction, offering stunning views both day and night. For action shots, hop on the Swing Carousel and snap some exhilarating mid-ride photos.

Traditional Flavors

Oktoberfest is as much about the food as it is about the beer. Grab a shot holding a massive pretzel in one hand and a frothy beer stein in the other – it’s a quintessential Oktoberfest image. For foodies, close-ups of traditional dishes like Schweinshaxe (pork knuckles) or Hendl (roast chicken) will make your followers’ mouths water.

Bavarian Fashion

The festival is a showcase of traditional Bavarian attire. Capture the charm of attendees dressed in colorful Dirndls and dapper Lederhosen. These photos not only document the fashion but also the preservation of cultural heritage.

Panoramic Views

Head to elevated spots for breathtaking overviews of the festival grounds. The tower of St. Paul’s Church offers panoramic vistas during Oktoberfest, and the Bavaria Statue provides a commanding view of the festivities below.

Night Magic

As the sun sets, Oktoberfest transforms into a dazzling spectacle of lights. Capture the enchanting glow of the rides and tents against the night sky. Long-exposure shots can create stunning light trails from the moving carnival rides.

Cultural Touches

Don’t forget the charming details that make Oktoberfest unique. Snap photos of the colorful Gingerbread Hearts with their sweet German phrases, or capture the intricate decorations adorning the festival grounds.

Tips for Perfect Shots

  1. Timing is Key: Early mornings offer less crowded photo opportunities, while evenings provide magical lighting.
  2. Respect Privacy: Always ask for permission before photographing individuals up close.
  3. Steady Hand: For sharp night shots, use a tripod or stable surface.
  4. Capture Candid Moments: Some of the best photos are unplanned – be ready to snap the spontaneous joy of the festival.

Munich Oktoberfest is a photographer’s paradise, offering a rich tapestry of culture, tradition, and celebration. With these photo ideas, you’re set to create a stunning visual diary of your Oktoberfest experience. Prost to your photographic adventure! I hope you like this Munich Oktoberfest Photo Guide.

Westhavelland: the first Dark Sky Park in Germany

Westhavelland, located in the state of Brandenburg, is indeed the first Dark Sky Park in Germany. The region was officially designated as a Dark Sky Park in 2014 by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA), which is an organization that works to protect the night skies for present and future generations.

One of the best spots in Westhavelland is Gülpersee.

Eifel National Park

You can see the Milky Way at night in the Eifel National Park in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Winklmoosalm

In the Bavarian Alps in Germany, Winklmoosalm Star Park is a popular stargazing destination.

A guided stargazing tour takes visitors through the constellations and planets visible in the night sky at the Winklmoosalm Star Park.

Best Photo Spots in Bavaria Germany

Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein castle wishes no advent but Neuschwanstein fortress is a nineteenth-century historicist palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. Many photo spots around Neuschwanstein offer different angles. You can hike to Marienbrücke to get a full view of Neuschwanstein. (Marienbrücke is mostly closed in winter, so check before visiting.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Maria Gern

This pilgrimage church is located in the market town of Berchtesgaden in Upper Bavaria. It is also a popular photo spot in Upper Bavaria with a view of Beautiful Watzmann in the background.

Hintersee

Hintersee is located almost five kilometers west of Ramsau near Berchtesgaden and almost directly on the German-Austrian border in the Berchtesgaden Alps National Park in Upper Bavaria, an idyll of crystal-clear mountain lakes and lush forests all year-round. Hintersee is one of my favorite photo spots and relaxing spots. Hintersee is beautiful no matter what the weather is like. In summer you can swim, in autumn the colors are breathtaking, and in winter it looks like a winter wonderland.

Geroldsee

Gerold is a small village located between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. There is a field path that leads to the scenic Geroldsee. You can see the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains from there. Geroldsee is no secret. Instagram has made it famous. You can take beautiful landscape photos there. However, it is prohibited to visit the photo spot in the summer months.

Lake Eibsee

At an elevation of 1,000 meters, the Eibsee, a jewel of the Werdenfels region, is surrounded by crystal-clear, deep blue, and sparkling waters. On its northern side, it is 2.40 km long, 850 m wide, and up to 32.5 m deep (depending on the water level). The Eibsee was formed by a massive rockfall. It is quite rightly considered one of the most picturesque and purest lakes in the Bavarian Alps because of its clear, turquoise waters.

Ammersee

Ammersee is a Zungenbecken lake in Upper Bavaria, Germany, southwest of Munich between the towns of Herrsching and Dießen am Ammersee. With a surface area of approximately 47 square kilometers, it is the sixth-largest lake in Germany. The lake is at an elevation of 533 meters and has a maximum depth of 81 meters.
